The Branco family kept Quinta dos Muros in the deal. Portal was started by the Branco family that have more than 100 years of wine grower tradition in Quinta dos Muros and they later expanded with more quintas - Quinta da Abelheira in 1979 and Quinta do Confradeiro and Quinta do Portal in 1991.
A Single Quinta Vintage Port is made from Quinta do Portal and the company also makes a Vintage Port named Portal, which is mixed from several vineyards.
In the Vintage Port named Portal Plus, only young stocks of Touriga Nacional grapes from Quinta dos Muros were used.
