A. P. Santos
A. P. Santos & Ca Limitada
Founded | 1927 |
---|---|
Owner | Carlos Flores dos Santos |
The company was started by Albino Pereira dos Santos in 1927 and quickly became a well- establish port house with a prominent position and was mentioned in Andre Simeon book "Port" from 1934. During the war in the 1940s, there were some difficulties, but soon after Albino Pereira dos Santos and Fiel Rodrigues re-established the house.
In 1942 the heirs of J.H. Andresen were confronted with an economic crisis. They decided to sell the business to a society led by Albino Pereira dos Santos, already a respected name in the Port wine business. Destiny seemed to have chosen another man of rare character to continue the 100-year-old Andresen business. The company remains one of the few totally family-owned Portuguese Port firms.
