In 1793 Averys of Bristol is established, making it one of the UK's oldest wine merchants. In the 1890s Averys focused on Ports & Sherries. Since then they have imported and sold all sorts of wine. In addition to selling established brands of port, Averys has on several occasions bottled port wine under their own brand. For example, their Special Reserve Vintage Port in 1963 was a blend of Sandeman's, Fonseca's and Taylor's vintage ports.

| Taste | Lovely body. Mature and almost peaking but still with some elegant and round tannins and will maybe improve a little. Balanced and very tasty with lots of things in the mouth. And with a lovely, quite attractive and ling finish. This is a wonderful port indeed! | Average score | |
