Before 1976 the family sold all its grapes to other producers but when Miguel Champalimaud took over the strategy was changed. He was the first who exported port wine after the new law of the 7th of May 1986 direct from Douro. Monte family has own the Quinta do Cotto since13th century. The direct male line of Champalimaud was extinguished in 1915 but through marriage with Champalimaud’s daughter Dina Charlota Casimira to Joao Batista de Araujo Montez the name continued with the direct Montez male line.

Taste | Medium body. Mature and peaking and will probably not be better. Very elegant and balanced. Very tasty with, candy, butterscotch, ginger and spiciness in the mouth. Rather modern style of port with a nice, quite long and very interesting finish. Easy to drink and to enjoy. | Average score | 15.75 |
