The company Agri-Roncao was founded in 2000 by Domingos Ribeiro from Penafiel in the Vinhos Verde region and in 2001 they bought Quinta da Levandeira do Roncão near Pinhão in the Douro.
After a major restructuring of the winery and vineyards completed in 2005 the first port wines sourced from the quinta could be launched under the DR brand in 2006. Their first two Vintage Ports from 2001 and 2002 are made with grapes sourced from other farmers.
