Hooper

Richard Hooper & Sons

Founded 1771
Owner Silva Reis

This House was founded by the wine merchant Richard Hooper in London. Real Companhia Velha bought the company 1951 and bottled it mainly under Real Companhia Velhas alternative trading company, Companhia Geral da Agricultura das Vinhos do Alto Duoro. Until 1971 Hooper was run independently, but after that year it became a brand of Real Companhia Velha. During 1972 to 1985 it was probably the same wine as Real Companhia Velha, just another label. However between 1987 and 1991 Hooper was made from Quinta Nova.

Hooper Vintages:1847, 1851*, 1858*, 1863*, 1868, 1870, 1878*, 1886*, 1890, 1891, 1901, 1902*, 1908, 1916, 1917, 1918, 1922, 1923, 1924, 1929, 1931, 1934, 1935, 1937, 1938, 1940, 1941, 1942, 1943, 1944, 1945*, 1951, 1952, 1953, 1954, 1955, 1957, 1959, 1960, 1962, 1963, 1967, 1970, 1977, 1978, 1979, 1980, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1987, 1994, 1997, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007
