Carlo Magalhães started making port from this quinta in the end of the 20th century. Quinta do Silval has a long history and in the middle of the 19th century producing and selling port with its own brand. A part of this quinta belongs to Quinta de Noval and had from them a Brand name, Silval, but Magalhães is a new brand from Quinta do Silval created by Carlos Magalhães who started with Port Vintage in 2000.
