Quinta do Infantado

Quinta do Infantado Vinhos do produtor, Lda

Founded 1816
Owner Roseira family

Quinta do Infantado was founded in 1816 by the son of the Portuguese King Jaoa VI, Prince Dom Pedro IV. Infante is a title for the prince who is not first in line to inherit the crown. However, Prince Dom Pedro IV later became King Dom Pedro IV of Portugal and Emperor Pedro I of Brazil. In 1904 the estate was sold to João Lopes Roseira, and it is still owned by the Roseira family. The grapes from the quinta were sold to Taylor and Sandeman before the Roseira family started their own production and selling of port wine. In 1978 Quinta do Infantado made their very first own Vintage Port. It was in fact the very first independent producer who made and bottled Vintage Port in the Douro valley.
