Quinta do Junco

Owner Fladgate Partnership (Taylor-Fonseca Group)

The magnificent old estate of Quinta do Junco is among the most well-known of the historic Pinhão Valley vineyards. The early history of Quinta do Junco is not well documented. However the estate is known to have been in existence for at least a century and a half. Like Quinta de Terra Feita, it lies in the heart of the original 1756 demarcation.

This quinta was purchased by Taylor’s in 1997 from Borges & Irmao, who had own it since 1906 and it is situated near to Quinta de Terra Feita in the Pinhão River valley. The directors of Taylor’s were familiar with the wines of the estate and well aware of their quality. Indeed, some twenty years before, the company’s chairman, Alistair Robertson, had attempted to buy Quinta do Junco but was unsuccessful in persuading the bank to part with the estate.

Borges has now and then produced a Single Quinta Vintage Port from Junco.

Quinta do Junco Vintages:1908, 1917, 1920, 1922, 1927, 1935, 1945, 1958, 1960, 1963, 1977, 1980, 1995
