Vallado Adelaide

Quinta do Vallado - Sociedade Agrícola, Lda

Owner J.F.A. Ribeiro and F. Ferreira
Vintage Port Brands Vallado Adelaide

The winery has been known since 1716 and is one of the oldest and most famous Quinta in the Douro Valley. In year 1818 Antonio Bernardo Ferreira, father-in-law to the legendary Dona Antonia Adelaide Ferreira, bought Quinta do Vallado. There are two formative stages in Quinta do Vallado’s history. The first period lasted from 1716 until 1987, when Port was predominantly produced for the Ferreira family and under their label. In 1987 Ferreira was sold to Sogrape but Quinta do Vallado remained in the Ferreira family. The second stage started 1990 when it is instead bottled under the Quinta do Vallado label.

Today the quinta is run by the sixth generation of Dona Antonia Adelaide Ferreira, they i.e. Joao Alvares Ribeiro and Francisco Ferreira, decided to produce their own wines and start using the Quinta do Vallado label. The vintage 2009 provided the opportunity to make a Vintage port for the first time under the quinta label. The name of their first vintage was “Vallado Adelaide Vintage Port” in honour of their famous ancestor.
