Quinta do Arnozelo

Sociedade Agrícola Quinta do Arnozelo

Owner Sogevinus

The vineyard of Quinta do Arnozelo is situated in Douro Superior, on the southern, left, bank of the Douro river. The first known reference to Quinta do Arnozelo dates from 1527.

Quinta do Arnozelo was extensively replanted and redeveloped in the 19th century by Dona Antónia Ferreira. In 1936 the quinta was acquired by José Saraiva de Aguilar. In the 1990s the heirs of José Saraiva de Aguilar formed a new company, Sociedade Agrícola Quinta do Arnozelo, who acquired the quinta and carried out extensive replanting in 1992. Sogevinus purchased Quinta do Arnozelo in 2004 and has used the wine produced at Quinta do Arnozelo to make Calem port, but has also launched Quinta do Arnozelo as Burmester's single quinta vintage port. Both Calem and Burmester are nowadays included in Sogevinus portfolio of Port wine houses.
